Hello everyone!

Many of you have asked me to keep you "in the loop" on my trip to Hong Kong, and what better way to reach all of you at one time than through a blog! (that's the cool thing to do now, right?) Seemed like a pretty complicated idea at first, but so far this has been a piece of cake to set up :) So ... here we go!

After my 21 hour plane ride yesterday (which really wasn't that bad sitting in Business Class), and then being sick on my first night in my new home... I am pooped today! However, I did manage to head down to the mall for a few hours this afternoon. And let me tell you - I had no idea what I was getting myself into!! This is by far the largest mall I have ever been to. Three floors, stretched out across two streets connected with a land bridge, and so many stores that I just couldn't keep up. I did more people watching than anything, and did manage to catch a Chinese New Year Ice Skating show. (yes - those are big animals on ice skates!) Incredibly bizarre, but you wouldn't believe the number of people who were enthralled with this show!

This week commenced the Year of the Rat, and Chinese New Year "stuff" is everywhere. Here are some items that were decorating the mall:

Other than that, I've spent my day unpacking my bags and trying to make my hotel room feel a little less dull. I have 4 English TV channels in my room (including CNN International!), so thank goodness for the internet and plenty of books I brought to read. My room is nothing special to write home about, but here is what my home for the next 7 weeks looks like.

I'll definitely be trying to find some candles or other little things to liven up this place in the next few days :)

I'll try to send out updates as often as I can, however, tomorrow is my first day of work in the Hong Kong office and I'm sure things are about to get pretty busy.

Please comment here, send me emails, etc to keep in touch often!

Miss you guys!
M

Marissa-
Wow! I just heard this weekend that you went over there with work. I ran into Stacy from Turner at our Neighborhood Progressive Dinner this weekend. Have a great time- enjoy it! I'm sure 7 weeks seems like a long time now, but it will go be very quickly. Stay safe and keep us updated on your trip. Look forward to meeting up when you come back to the states.

Wow, Hong Kong I heard was amazing. Don't forget to try to get to Beijing and visit the Great Wall. Keep me posted on the shopping, which means I may have to follow you there. I loved Beijing, but I heard Hong Kong is way better. Enjoy!!!!!!

Fabulous blog so far. I can't believe CNN hooked you up with such an impressive fridge! Have you by any chance named it Richard? (something to put your food in!)
Seriously though, glad you are adjusting and beginning to enjoy the adventure. Look forward to seeing more.
